Job Description: 

Summary:

Sr. Technical Service Engineer leads by example in delivering industry’s best customer support experience. He/she develops deep expertise in target customer applications as well as strong personal customer relationships. Sr. Technical Service Engineer works side by side with sales and utilizes strong technical acumen and interpersonal skill to technically sell the product. Sr. Technical Service Engineer creates and maintains relevant customer and industry networks and is seen as an expert in target product applications and forefront areas of technology internally and externally – a go to person for advice. Sr. Technical Service Engineer lead development of low complexity projects and directly supervises engineering assistants. 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead by example in delivery of the industry’s best customer support experience
  • Utilize deep application expertise and strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong personal customer relationships
  • Work side by side with sales to understand customer product needs and provide technical selling
  • Provide product / application expertise, ongoing technical support, and custom testing to existing customers
  • Create and maintain relevant customer and industry networks and be seen as an expert in target product applications
  • Develop technical documents and provide training to fabricators, OEMs and sales engineers regarding proper and effective use of our materials (web tool concepts, white papers, etc)
  • Extract information from the customer and effectively network within EMS to find solutions:
    • Collaborate with R&D / IC in the development and technical qualification of new products / applications
    • Aid in development of future technology platforms – cross functional team member on PDP or LCP projects
  • Directly supervise engineering assistants
  • Lead low complexity and PDP projects

Qualifications:

  • BS or higher in engineering or science with a track record of accomplishment in product development, project management or application development
  • 5+ years of experience in R&D, technical service or application development
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills at various organizational levels including presentations to large groups. 
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, plan, organize and oversee multiple research projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self starter with ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Solid ability to sell our technical solutions
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of working time

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 5 – 10 years of experience in R&D, technical service or application development
  • Project management experience
  • Subject matter expert in EMS market applications
