Summary:

Rogers Corporation currently has an opening for an Accountant in Chandler, AZ. Although the position can be remote, only local/AZ applicants will be considered.

 

This Accountant position requires the ability to demonstrate subject matter expertise by using problem-solving and analysis. Regularly engages with business partners or auditors to facilitate understanding of transactions and activities. Assesses the design and operating effectiveness of the control environment over the areas of responsibility. Requires moderate degree of judgment for the appropriate application of Corporate Policy, GAAP, Regulation, or established framework. Regularly makes evaluations of facts and circumstances and is able to effectively communicate conclusions and recommendations for remediation or process improvements. Able to advance responsibilities and/or priorities largely independent of management oversight. Promotes a risk-aware culture, ensures efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

Essential Functions:

1.    Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, coordination, and completion of annual audits necessary.
2.    Support and participate in the monthly financial statement close process for the Business Unit or functional area of responsibility, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely and analyzing and reviewing financial statements and variances. Consult and liaise with operating unit finance personnel on accounting issues.
3.    Prepare, review and analyze account reconciliations for companies and/or designated functions within the Business Unit or functional area of responsibility. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
4.    Analyze and report on financial status, including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
5.    Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
6.    Supports Internal and External Audit Requests.

Required Education and Experience:

  • B.S degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledgeable in IT systems (e.g. SAP, Peoplesoft, Hyperion). 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and theory
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability (identifies problems and develops/implements solutions) Ability to take ownership and drive projects/issues to completion
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Motivated/able to grow and develop in the organization
  • Public and/or private experience in manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Experience in information system implementations, Sarbanes Oxley, and process improvements
