Job Description: 

Summary:

This role serves as a senior member of the Legal & Compliance Department, providing strategic legal leadership across enterprise compliance, sustainability and regulatory reporting, trade and export controls, employment law, litigation oversight, and business legal support. This role is a key advisor to executive leadership and partners closely with business units and functional leaders to manage legal risk while enabling business objectives.

Essential Functions:

Enterprise Compliance Leadership

  • Lead and oversee the Company’s global compliance program, including framework development, governance, and priority setting.
  • Own and maintain the Code of Conduct and core compliance policies.
  • Drive compliance training strategy and execution across the organization.
  • Oversee ethics hotline governance and internal investigations processes.

Business & Operational Support

  • Provide commercial and operational legal counseling to business unit.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
  • Partner with regional and local counsel to support global operations.
  • Select and manage outside counsel.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects for the Legal & Compliance Department.

Employment Law Counseling

  • Provide legal advice on employment matters, including complex and sensitive issues.
  • Lead or oversee internal investigations and employee-related escalation.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employment law compliance and risk mitigation.

Litigation Management

  • Oversee legacy asbestos litigation portfolio and related legal strategy.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel and insurers.
  • Manage settlement strategy, authority, and reporting cadence with internal stakeholders.

Compliance Team Leadership and Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and develop legal and compliance team members, including performance management, succession planning, and people development.
  • Oversee sustainability and trade and export compliance programs; provide guidance and escalation support to compliance team members.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations on reporting and compliance matters; lead conflict minerals reporting and related regulatory disclosures.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States
  • 10+ years of experience, preferably a combination of private practice with a major law firm and relevant in-house experience with global organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance program leadership and regulatory risk management
  • Experience advising on employment law matters, including investigations, employee relations issues, and partnership with Human Resources on legal and compliance risk mitigation
  • Advanced analytical and negotiating skills, including the ability to solve difficult legal business problems, analyze contracts, legal agreements, and properly protect the Company's interests
  • Ability to effectively work independently, collaboratively in a team setting, and with business units and functional leaders 
  • Ability to effectively work in stressful situations and able to leverage/maintain relationships at all levels
  • Experience overseeing or supporting ethics hotline programs and internal investigations strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions preferred
  • Experience in sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks, trade/export controls, and litigation management preferred
