Job Description: 

Summary:

The Engineering Assistant supports the business unit operations by creating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving processes, in addition to monitoring and measuring processes and equipment.

Essential Functions:

Manufacturing and Project Support

  • Lead projects that enable a safer, more organized, cleaner, and higher-performance workplace.
  • Seek best practices from different manufacturing processes and/or product lines; helps apply them across operations.
  • Develop and maintain clear, accurate, simplified, standardized work instructions. Perform training as needed.
  • Support Process and Quality Engineering by providing technical assistance and solutions when problems are encountered in manufacturing.
  • Attend regular production Quality and Operational Excellence meetings and actively participate/lead and assume ownership of improvement tasks.
  • Support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliant processes.

QA Support

  • Participate in 8D, Corrective Actions and 5Y activities as required.
  • Perform NCM dispositions in a timely manner.
  • Perform containment activities as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems as needed.
  • Improve procedures and document best practices. Perform training as needed.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • High School Diploma plus 2-5 years developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing and testing processes or Associate degree in Science, Technology or Engineering

  • Direct experience with ISO 9001, AS9100 or IATF 16949 technical specifications.

  • Strong problem solving and complex troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel

  • Ability to train employees

  • Self-starter able to work with minimal support or in a team environment.

  • Excellent organization, documentation and communication skills

  • Ability to recognize inconsistent or unexpected results and proactively address to resolve inconsistency

  • Experience with MSA, GR&R, and SPC

  • Hands-on material testing experience a plus

  • 8D Problem solving experience, and experience with Six Sigma and Lean tools

  • Corrective and Preventative Action experience

  • Experience with Proficient and Minitab software packages a plus
