Job Description: 

Summary:

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day production support, maintaining process documentation, implementation and monitoring of process controls, identifying and resolving process inefficiencies, and supporting scaleup and development to target new business.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains safety, product quality/yield, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process difficulties working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Optimizes manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in cost effectiveness and product performance through capital projects, statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural changes.
  • Works collaboratively with the R&D and Operations teams to improve existing products, develop new manufacturing processes, and resolve difficult technical/quality issues. Leads where appropriate.
  • Works with customers to resolve technical/quality issues and provide special products.
  • Starts-up new products and equipment and supervises installation, troubleshoots initial production, ensures new processes and products meet requirements, documents and transfers to production.
  • Coordinates and manages capital projects from planning through completion. This may include project charter and business case creation, vendor selection, and development of equipment specifications, as well as equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 4 plus years; prefer 5-7 years demonstrated professional level engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with molding processes and/or mold tooling design and maintenance(REQUIRED)
  • Proven record of strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with strong leadership and demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Strong understanding of DOE and related statistical tools

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with calender and/or flatbed lamination processes
  • Experience in new product and/or process development
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification and/or Shainin Red X certification
  • Knowledge of application development and quality systems tools including SPC, FMEA, Process Flow Charting, and ISO/TS-16949 quality systems
