Job Description: 

Summary:

The Development Engineer is responsible for the development of new products and manufacturing processes. Establishing a sound technical basis for these developments, this role will work closely with internal team members to understand material and manufacturing constraints. With a strong detail-orientation, this position will document development processes, perform experimental processes, and track results.

Essential Functions:

  • Focusing on the development of new products, materials, and processes in the field of power electronics and the required components such as substrates, coolers, etc.
  • Identification, initiation and evaluation of new ideas and concepts
  • Application of defined quality tools and methods, e.g. Six Sigma, DOE etc.
  • Timely provision of status reports according to the defined requirements
  • Supporting the sales, marketing and engineering teams as experts in power electronics in order to jointly develop solutions that meet the customer requirements of the future
  • Monitoring related technologies with a focus on finding new, creative and cost-effective solutions to enable access to new markets
  • Review and evaluation of patents that may affect current and future projects published by third parties
  • Meeting with customers as needed to better understand their challenges and product performance requirements
  • Provision of status updates on R&D projects
  • Cross-functional teamwork

Qualifications:

  • Education: University degree (bachelor’s/master’s/PhD) in mechanical engineering/physics/material sciences or comparable disciplines
  • Knowledge and experience in planning and conducting tests and trials to evaluate new concepts and ideas
  • Understanding of technology and market trends as a basis for technology and product developments
  • Flexibility and agile way of working in the implementation of new innovative ideas
  • Creativity as well as analytical skills and strong logical thinking skills
  • Experience in risk management, resource planning, design control, product development
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma
  • Experience in the field of electronics desirable
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Travel Requirement:  ~10%
