Job Description: 

Summary:

A Rogers Corporation Buyer is responsible for sourcing, procurement, negotiating and on time delivery of expense, supply, MRO, production, service items and some raw materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies & services - optimizing cost, delivery and terms.
  • Secures pricing and availability, places purchase orders and enters data (POs) into the system and works with Accounts Payable to rectify discrepant invoices.
  • Negotiates pricing and actively works on cost reduction activities for expense, supply, MRO, production, service items and some raw materials.
  • Analyzes and selects suppliers, issues purchase orders, follows up & expedites orders as necessary and sets up new suppliers and material data following ISO guidelines.
  • Monitors storeroom stocks and initiates orders within established guidelines and sets up and adjusts re-order points as needed.
  • Reviews requisitions for proper authorization and assigns appropriate tax rates.
  • Participates on TQC teams, coordinates non-conforming materials, follows freight procedures and communicates manufacturing/scheduling delays.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • 4+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with MRP systems and ISO requirements
