Job Description:
Summary:
Responsible for defining and implementing the manufacturing process requirements for new product, new technologies and identifying solutions to optimize current assets to deliver improved safety, quality, capacity and cost performance.
Essential Functions:
- Familiarity with chemistries and manufacturing processes for elastomers (polyurethanes, silicones, PTFE, high performance polymer films & adhesives)
- Partners with R&D and commercial teams through the NPI Stage Gate process to proactively identify critical commercial operating criteria to ensure products can be manufactured safely and robustly at a commercial scale within the timeline criteria for commercialization
- Facilitates the technology transfer from R&D for new products & new process technologies from bench scale to pilot line to plant trial to commercial scale validation.
- Able to understand the total product cost and plant operating performance to identify potential solutions to improve capacity, yield, labor, raw materials, overall product cost through optimization of current manufacturing processes and partnering with R&D on new chemistries and manufacturing technologies
- Ensures that needed operating and design parameters are well defined and incorporated into the design specifications for major CapEx to support new manufacturing lines and debottlenecks.
- Has project experience with process development & design, with process simulation and ability to develop heat and material balance for various unit operations.
- Has experience with leading manufacturing plant start-ups and trials, partnering with operations to ensure any corrective actions for commercial production are efficiently addressed.
- Able to assist procurement and R&D to identify & qualify new raw material suppliers and 3rd party toller operations to supplement internal manufacturing needs.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience as an engineer in both R&D and manufacturing environment supporting NPI, engineering, quality, procurement.
- Demonstrated skills leading cross-functional teams: R&D, operations, engineering, commercial
- Demonstrated skills in structured data-driven problem analysis and resolution
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills Computer skills (MS Office).
- Ability to work independently
- Preferred experience with designed experimentation (DOE)
- Preferred able to define business case, cost analysis, and financial justification for capital projects
- Preferred Working knowledge of business finance
